POSTPONED—Victory from the Shadows: Growing Up in a New Mexico School for the Blind and Beyondwith Gary and Elaine Montague

Co-authors Gary and Elaine Montague sign and discuss "Victory from the Shadows: Growing Up in a New Mexico School for the Blind and Beyond," the true story of educator Gary Montague's life and the people who've helped and inspired him.

"Victory from the Shadows": Celebrate the human spirit with this true story of love by authors who understand the complexities of being a child who needs educational modifications. Courageous love of a mother. Encouraging love of a teacher. Unselfish love of volunteers. Enduring love of a wife. Pull on Gary's cowboy boots to see his world with low vision as he abruptly leaves his farm home at age eight and enrolls in a residential school for the blind. With one train ride, his life changes forever. The darkness frightens Gary when he hears Mom's footsteps fade away.

Gary, Sandia National Laboratories, 32 years, in the areas of education, training, and safety engineering. He also instructed those for whom English was their second language.

Elaine, Albuquerque Public Schools, 31 years, teacher training in computer applications and implementation of innovative programs in special and regular education classrooms K-12, architecture for elementary grades, and as The Egg Drop Lady.
